A new concept in local reviewing
Review Culture has been set up to fill a void left by local press that no longer see the need to review shows within Lincolnshire. Many of the producers, organisers and companies staging work in Lincolnshire, struggle to get their name "out there" and so, we have decided to establish an online review page.
Tell us what you are producing, where and when it is on and if we have an available reviewer free, we will come and review your show, guaranteeing it a space on our page, to which you can point potential audiences. We can also shoot photos of your show to illustrate and promote the experience, making it a desirable, online stop-over for companies wishing to get the word out there about their work.
How much does this cost you as promoters/producers? The answer is nothing. We offer this service free to you and to those who wish to read about your work. But it is important that you let us know what is on, where and when. Then we will attend, review and promote the work via this website. We just need to be invited.
We will cover any live arts event within Lincolnshire by invitation. We will require a programme, a seat and permission to take photos during a performance (or dress rehearsal if you prefer).
At present, our principal reviewer is Andy Evans. Andy is well-known on the local theatre scene as a performer, director and playwright. He has had plays published in the UK and the USA and has worked professionally with companies such as Hull Truck Theatre Company, Middle Child Theatre, Slung Low, Dirty Protest, The National Theatre of Wales and his own Breakwater Theatre Company. For many years, Andy was employed as a teacher and youth worker but is currently studying for an MA in Theatre at the University of Lincoln, focussing on writing for and about theatre. He works as a dramaturg and freelance playwright. Andy is also a popular choice as an event and theatre photographer working with many local companies to shoot and promote their work.
