So how did The Nudgers first look?

Author Andy Evans has shared the first sketch he drew to visualise what he thought the little mischief makers would look like. He wanted a cross between Baby Yoda, a Mogwai from Gremlins and a cat. So putting his brain to work Andy sketched a rough idea of what he wanted a Nudger to look like and that is pretty much how they ended up looking.

He liked the wide furry face with the big dark eyes and the long floppy ears. He assumed that the hat would feature mossy, shrubbery-type flowers and that a Nudger would carry a cross body bag. He also wanted Nudgers to have pink noses like many cats do. The picture below is a photrealistic picture created from the sketch above.

Finally, the image used on the book cover made the Nudger look less like a baby rabbit and more like a fantastical character, whilst retaining the cuteness of Nudgers to make them appealing.

This was the image finally chosen for the book cover and subsequent illustrations etc.
