The Nudgers are coming.

“Somewhere between the blink of an eye and the very corner of your vision… small hidden creatures bustle quietly and unseen; little agents of chaos… They are… The Nudgers.”

So begins each tale of The Nudgers, eight-inch-tall furry little creatures rarely seen by humans despite all of us feeling the effects of their work!

The book will be the first in an on-going series of novels for readers aged 7+ and is set for release in July 2026. Playwright and puppeteer, Andy Evans has created a world in which those little annoyances that build and build until we blow our tops, are actually caused by fantastical little creatures, known as The Nudgers.

Understanding Nudging

Nudging is based on the idea that small annoyances can cumulate and create major problems, or they can teach you how to deal with problems in a way that stops them escalating. The Nudgers' quest in life is to teach children resilience and problem-solving through inflicting silly problems that children can learn to deal with.

Inspiration For The Nudgers

As a fan of Elisabeth Beresford's series of books about The Wombles, author Andy Evans wanted to create a similar world, inspired by, rather than a direct copy of The Wombles. He came up with the idea for The Nudgers upon waking up one day, when he was obliged to sit at his computer and to get as many ideas down as possible, before he forgot them. Before he knew what had happened, Andy had a complete concept and he set about writing the story down with a view to possibly publishing it one day. However, Andy has never really been patient and decided to push on with the idea and to self-publish the first Nudgers book.

The concept was met with warm enthusiasm as Andy released snippets to his friends online and as a result, the final manuscript was sent to the publishers in late June 2026. Once the proof copy is received and deemed satisfactory, Andy will go ahead and release the book for sale as a print-on-demand publication.

Andy hopes to be able to visit a number of book fayres during the next few months to test the water as he considers ideas for the follow-up book, The Hidden Pathways (Nudgers Book 2) that he hopes he will start writing in the Autumn.

Andy will also look to visit schools and community centres to promote the book through readings and workshops over the coming months.
