Our play writing competition which closed on December 15th 2018, garnered a great deal of interest. All entries have now been read and a long list of entries has been completed. The next step will be to select the short list of 12 plays that will go forward for performance.
All writers who submitted will be informed of the success or otherwise of their entry in early January. Unfortunately, due o the large number of entries, we will not be able to enter into further correspondence with unsuccessful writers or to provide feedback on their scripts.
The first scratch night will take place on Friday February 22nd 2019 in the Albert Room at Cleethorpes Library from 7:30pm. Tickets will be £5 and will be available from the Library itself. The two most successful plays at this event will win a £300 commission to write an extended (40 minute) version of their play, working with New Perspectives Theatre Company. These plays will receive a premiere performance by Breakwater Theatre Company in October. We will also be holding a second scratch night at the Library on Friday March 29th when six more new plays will be presented and four scripts from the TWO scratch nights will receive a cash prize and go forward for performance in November where a winning play will receive our final cash prize.
