Kazbah's Artistic DIrector, Andy Evans, was fortunate enough to be the recipient of development funding from Create North East Lincolnshire. As a result, Andy has spent two weeks working on training in puppetry and making puppet films .
Over the last fortnight, Andy has been able to study one-to-one with Jess Parker-Hewitt, of Parker Puppetry and Avenue Q about performing technique. He has also worked with American puppeteer, Pam Severns looking at a basic introduction to puppetry, puppet film making from scratch and writing for puppetry.
Cleethorpes-based Alex Thompson provided some basic training in filming and editing and shot footage of Kazbah Theatre performers working on their shows which are currently in development.
Andy's favourite new skill involved learning how to shoot puppets against a green screen after receiving online training from Parker Puppetry and puppeteer Lee Thompson. On the final day of Andy's training today, Andy used a brand-new, recently purchased, green screen set-up with new video lights and recorded a performance as a Christmas greeting from Kazbah Theatre 2023.
